Clinical Supervision
What is Clinical Supervision?
Supervision can be, and is, usefully used across many sectors to support specialist practitioners, key workers and front line teams in their practice and wellbeing. It enables practitioners to reflect on why they are doing the work that they do and ‘free’ space to be able to approach the work differently.
The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) include the requirement to have supervision in the 2018 Ethical Framework. It states: ‘Supervision provides practitioners with regular and ongoing opportunities to reflect in depth about all aspects of their practice in order to work as effectively, safely and ethically as possible’. (BACP Ethical Framework, 2018. Paragraph 50).
I offer clinical supervision opportunities for individuals and groups either privately or via an organisational/training contract. I work integratively with the practitioner(s) to build a safe and strong supervisory relationship to explore the work they are doing with their clients to ensure ethical practice and practitioner wellbeing.
Group Supervision for Organisations and Trainees:
Supervising practitioners in groups can often be preferable to individual supervision. It collectively is more effective and offers the opportunity for sharing good practice whilst developing a sense of peer support and collegiality. In addition, it can be more cost effective for the organisation.
